As the producers of this project, our mission is to preserve the legacy of one of the most influential activists of the Civil Rights Movement, Mrs. Fannie Lou Hamer.

As police brutality, racial discrimination and voter suppression persist as threats to the American Democratic ideal, Fannie Lou Hamer’s words are just as relevant now as they were during the 1960s.

Fannie Lou Hamer was “sick and tired” then - and people are “sick and tired” now!

Your donation can help us preserve her words for students, researchers and younger and future generations looking to the past for more empowering and inspirational models of social change, such as Fannie Lou Hamer.

Your donation today will support:

(1) Our upcoming Online Library and Virtual Museum that will showcase articles, personal letters, papers, and items belonging to Fannie Lou Hamer;

(2)  Our Online Driving Tour that will soon feature current and archival footage of locations throughout Mississippi relevant to Fannie Lou Hamer’s life and activism; and

(3)  Our Sunflower County Film Academy which introduces high school students from the underserved Mississippi Delta to Digital Arts and Media, and teaches them how to make their own short films and videos to tell the stories of their heart.

Fannie Lou Hamer loved the Delta and worked tirelessly to improve, empower, educate, and uplift the residents of that region.

Your donation today can help us continue her mission, preserve her words, and honor her life and legacy!
